Following the resort's successful upgrade in 2014, Construction Profile was reappointed in 2015 to carry out additional works on the resort.
With further redevelopment and upgrades planned for other parts of the island, a need was identified to provide temporary on-island accommodation for the large construction workforce anticipated.
Experience had shown that almost all of the workforce will be derived from resources that are based on the Australian mainland. Owing to the island’s isolation and to improve efficiency, it was necessary for this workforce to be based on-site.
The project primarily involved the procurement, logistics, installation and fitout of 12 prefabricated buildings. Ancillary works included block footings, civil works (earthworks and paths/roads), decking, plumbing, power, lighting and telecommunications infrastructure.
